Terms & Conditions

These terms govern trial lessons, enrolment, payments, scheduling, safeguarding and the provision of home and online educational services by the Institute of Performing Arts.

Effective 5 August 2026 Last updated 5 August 2026
Legal Entity Opus One Performing Arts Development Center
Operating Brand Institute of Performing Arts — IPA
Commercial Registration C.R. No. 236787
Commercial Licence Licence No. 331962

Clear expectations allow students, families, teachers and IPA to focus on what matters most: meaningful artistic development.

Opus One Performing Arts Development Center is a single-member limited liability company registered in the State of Qatar and operates under the Institute of Performing Arts brand. In these terms, “IPA”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to that organisation.

“Customer” means the parent, guardian, adult student or other person who requests, books or pays for an IPA service. “Student” means the individual receiving the lesson or educational service.

01

About these terms

These terms apply to enquiries, trial lessons, enrolment, home lessons, online lessons and other educational services supplied by IPA.

By confirming a booking, paying an invoice, enrolling a student or continuing to receive IPA services, the customer agrees to these terms.

A website form submission, enquiry or automated acknowledgement does not by itself confirm a booking or create a guaranteed teacher allocation. A booking becomes confirmed only when IPA has accepted it, communicated the agreed arrangement and received any required advance payment.

Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts any mandatory right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable Qatar law.

02

Our services

IPA provides performing-arts education, including home lessons in Qatar and online lessons in Qatar and other supported GCC locations.

Programmes, instruments, lesson lengths, teaching formats, prices and availability may vary. Information published on the IPA website is intended to describe the services generally and does not guarantee immediate availability.

  • IPA services are normally available to students aged five and above.
  • Lessons may be available for beginner, intermediate and advanced students.
  • Teacher availability depends on the instrument, location, lesson format, level, language and requested timetable.
  • IPA may decline a booking where it cannot identify a safe, suitable or operationally practical arrangement.

IPA does not guarantee a particular examination result, performance outcome, grade, rate of progress or professional opportunity. Progress depends on many factors, including attendance, practice, preparation and individual development.

03

Trial lessons

A trial lesson allows the student and teacher to experience an initial lesson before deciding whether to proceed with regular enrolment.

  • Trial lessons are subject to teacher and timetable availability.
  • IPA may select the teacher considered most suitable for the requested instrument, level, format and location.
  • The trial fee is a one-time payment and must be paid before the confirmed trial takes place.
  • Once the trial has been confirmed and a teacher has been allocated, the trial fee is non-refundable except where a refund or other remedy is required by applicable law.
  • Completion of a trial does not guarantee a continuing place with the same teacher or at the same time.
04

Enrolment and teacher allocation

IPA assigns teachers according to the student’s instrument, age, level, learning needs, location, preferred format, timetable and overall suitability.

Customer preferences will be considered, but IPA cannot guarantee a particular teacher. Teachers may become unavailable because of illness, leave, timetable changes, relocation, the end of their relationship with IPA or another operational circumstance.

IPA may appoint a substitute teacher, assign a replacement teacher or propose another suitable arrangement. Wherever reasonably possible, IPA will communicate material changes in advance.

A customer who believes a teacher allocation is unsuitable should contact IPA. We will consider the concern and, where reasonably possible, explore an alternative arrangement.

05

Fees and payment

Regular lessons are normally paid in advance in monthly batches of four lessons.

  • Payment must be received before the first scheduled lesson in the relevant billing period.
  • Where a student begins part-way through a month, IPA may invoice a proportionate number of lessons for the remainder of that month.
  • The standard monthly payment cycle may then begin from the first day of the following month.
  • Lessons may be withheld or suspended until cleared payment has been received.
  • All lesson fees and other service payments must be made directly to IPA through an approved payment method.
  • Customers must not pay an IPA teacher or specialist privately for an IPA service.

Price changes

IPA may amend its prices from time to time. Existing customers will ordinarily receive at least three months’ written notice before a new price applies.

A price change will not be applied retrospectively to lessons that have already been paid for.

06

Cancellations and rescheduling

Minimum notice

A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel a lesson or request that it be rescheduled.

A properly notified rescheduling request will be accommodated wherever reasonably possible, but remains subject to teacher availability and operational feasibility. IPA cannot guarantee a particular replacement date, time or teacher.

IPA does not impose a fixed numerical limit on properly notified rescheduling requests. However, repeated changes that materially disrupt the agreed timetable may require the customer to select a new regular time, change teacher or agree an alternative arrangement.

Late cancellation

A lesson cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice is charged in full and is ordinarily forfeited.

IPA will aim to act reasonably and may, entirely at its discretion, offer an alternative arrangement where exceptional circumstances and teacher availability permit. An exception does not create an entitlement to the same exception in the future.

Student absence or no-show

Where the student does not attend and qualifying notice has not been provided, the lesson is forfeited and remains payable in full.

Student lateness

A lesson reserves the teacher’s time for the agreed period. Where a student begins late, the lesson will ordinarily end at the scheduled finishing time.

The teacher may extend the lesson where the timetable permits, but is not required or guaranteed to do so.

07

IPA cancellations and lesson credits

Where IPA or the assigned teacher cancels a lesson, IPA will ordinarily provide one of the following:

  • a replacement lesson;
  • a substitute teacher;
  • an agreed lesson credit; or
  • another reasonable remedy appropriate to the circumstances.

A lesson credit must normally be used within six months of the date on which it was issued. Unused credit expires after that period unless IPA confirms otherwise in writing.

Where IPA is unable to provide the purchased service or a reasonable replacement, any mandatory remedy available under applicable law remains unaffected.

08

Home lesson conditions

The customer is responsible for providing an environment in which the teacher can enter, teach and leave safely and professionally.

  • A responsible adult must remain at the property throughout a home lesson involving a student under 18.
  • The lesson area must be safe, reasonably quiet, suitable for teaching and free from inappropriate interference.
  • The student must have access to a suitable instrument and any required learning equipment.
  • Pets that may distract, frighten or endanger the teacher must be securely separated from the teaching area.
  • The customer must provide any reasonable access instructions, security clearance or information needed to reach the property.
  • The customer must ensure that the teacher can arrive and leave the property safely and without unreasonable restriction.

Where the teacher arrives but the customer is absent, entry cannot be obtained, the student is unavailable or the environment materially prevents the lesson from taking place, the lesson may be treated as a customer no-show and forfeited.

IPA or the teacher may refuse to begin, pause or end a lesson where there is a reasonable safety, safeguarding, conduct or suitability concern.

09

Online lesson conditions

The customer is responsible for providing a suitable device, stable internet connection, camera, microphone, audio equipment, instrument and appropriate learning environment.

IPA does not guarantee that the customer’s device, connection, software or equipment will be suitable for online tuition.

Customer-side technical problems

Where a problem arises from the customer’s connection, device, equipment or environment, the teacher will make reasonable efforts to reconnect, continue or adapt the lesson.

Replacement time or a lesson credit may be considered according to the circumstances but is not automatically guaranteed.

IPA or teacher-side technical problems

Where a technical failure attributable to IPA or the teacher materially prevents the lesson from being delivered, IPA will provide a replacement lesson, credit or another reasonable arrangement.

10

Safeguarding & Child Protection

IPA is committed to providing a learning environment in which the welfare, dignity and safety of every student are treated as fundamental.

Safeguarding is a shared responsibility between IPA, its teachers and specialists, parents and guardians, partner institutions and any other responsible adult involved in a student’s learning arrangement.

Our safeguarding principles

  • Students must be treated with dignity, patience, respect and professional care at all times.
  • Teachers and specialists must maintain appropriate professional boundaries with students and families.
  • Teaching must take place in an environment that is reasonably safe, appropriate and suitable for education.
  • Communication involving a minor student must be appropriate, lesson-related and conducted through channels permitted by IPA.
  • A safeguarding or welfare concern may take priority over the continuation of a lesson or normal administrative procedure.

Home lessons under 18

A responsible adult must remain at the property throughout a home lesson involving a student under 18.

Online students under 13

A parent, guardian or responsible adult should remain nearby and readily available for the duration of the lesson.

Online students aged 13–17

A parent or guardian must remain reasonably contactable and may be asked to join the lesson at the beginning, end or where circumstances require.

Additional supervision

IPA may require additional supervision where age, maturity, additional needs, behaviour, the teaching environment or a safeguarding concern makes this appropriate.

One-to-one tuition

Individual tuition is an important part of the IPA teaching model. One-to-one lessons may therefore take place where the supervision and environmental requirements set out in these terms are satisfied.

Parents and guardians remain responsible for ensuring that the learning arrangement is appropriate for the student and for informing IPA of any circumstance that may require additional support or supervision.

Professional boundaries

IPA teachers and specialists are expected to maintain clear and appropriate professional boundaries with students and families.

  • Teachers must not use their professional relationship with a student in an inappropriate, exploitative, intimidating or personal manner.
  • Private or unnecessary communication with minor students outside legitimate educational purposes is not permitted.
  • Lesson-related arrangements involving a minor should normally include or be conducted through the parent, guardian or another appropriate responsible adult.
  • Teachers must not request or encourage secrecy from a student concerning legitimate lesson activity, communication or conduct.

Physical guidance during music teaching

Music education may occasionally require a teacher to demonstrate or correct matters such as posture, hand position, bow hold, breathing, alignment or instrumental technique.

Where physical guidance is reasonably necessary, it must be appropriate to the educational purpose, limited to what is necessary and carried out professionally. Wherever practicable, the teacher should explain the intended guidance before making physical contact.

A student may decline physical guidance. Where a parent, guardian or student has a particular concern or preference regarding physical guidance, this should be communicated to IPA or the teacher.

Safeguarding during home lessons

Home lessons must take place in an appropriate teaching area within the property. The responsible adult does not need to participate in the lesson unless requested, but must remain at the property and be reasonably available.

IPA or the assigned teacher may decline to enter a property, refuse to begin a lesson, pause a lesson or leave the property where there is a reasonable concern relating to personal safety, student welfare, inappropriate conduct or the suitability of the environment.

Safeguarding during online lessons

Online lessons involving minors should take place in an appropriate learning environment. Parents and guardians are responsible for ensuring that the student is appropriately supervised according to age and circumstances.

Students should participate from a suitable shared, study or teaching space wherever reasonably practical. IPA may ask for a parent or guardian to become available where a concern arises during an online lesson.

Communication involving minors

Administrative matters including bookings, payments, cancellations, timetable changes and complaints must be handled through IPA.

Teachers may communicate with parents or guardians for reasonable lesson-related purposes. Direct communication with a minor student should be limited to appropriate educational matters and, wherever reasonably practical, include the parent, guardian or another appropriate responsible adult.

Photography, video and lesson recordings

Lessons are not intended to be routinely recorded. Photography, audio or video recording of an identifiable minor for publication or promotional use will require appropriate parent or guardian permission.

Promotional consent is optional and is not a condition of enrolment or participation in ordinary IPA lessons.

IPA may separately request permission for student performances, Student Spotlight features, photographs, recordings, events or other public-facing activity. The intended use should be communicated when consent is requested.

IPA may consider recording a lesson or interaction for a defined safeguarding, quality, training or evidential purpose where reasonably necessary and lawful. Appropriate notice or permission will normally be obtained unless circumstances make this inappropriate or another lawful basis applies.

Any such material will be handled in accordance with IPA’s Privacy Policy and applicable law.

Teacher and specialist suitability

IPA may carry out identity, professional, qualification, experience, reference, background or other suitability checks when recruiting or engaging teachers and specialists, according to the role, circumstances and any applicable legal or institutional requirements.

Teachers and specialists are expected to comply with IPA safeguarding expectations throughout their engagement. IPA may require additional information, declarations, documentation or checks where reasonably necessary.

Schools, preschools and partner institutions

Where an IPA teacher or specialist delivers services within a school, preschool or another partner institution, the teacher may also be required to comply with that institution’s applicable safeguarding, supervision, security and child-protection procedures.

Where an institutional safeguarding requirement is stricter than the ordinary arrangements described in these terms, IPA may adopt the stricter requirement for the relevant service.

Reporting a safeguarding concern

A parent, guardian, student, teacher or other person who has a concern about the safety, welfare or conduct affecting an IPA student should raise the matter with IPA as soon as reasonably possible.

Safeguarding concerns

Concerns may be reported to IPA management through the Contact page or by email at enquiries@ipaqatar.com .

A person reporting a genuine safeguarding concern in good faith should provide as much relevant information as reasonably possible so that the matter can be considered appropriately.

IPA response to safeguarding concerns

Where IPA becomes aware of a safeguarding or welfare concern, it may take such immediate and proportionate action as it considers reasonably necessary to protect the student or other persons while the matter is considered.

Depending on the circumstances, this may include:

  • pausing or ending a lesson;
  • changing the teaching arrangement or supervision requirements;
  • temporarily removing or replacing a teacher or specialist;
  • restricting communication between particular individuals;
  • seeking further information from a parent, guardian, teacher, specialist or partner institution;
  • suspending or terminating an IPA service or professional engagement; or
  • taking another step reasonably required by the circumstances or applicable law.

IPA may also refer a serious matter to an appropriate authority where required by law or where IPA reasonably considers external intervention necessary.

Student welfare

The continuation of a lesson, timetable or teacher allocation will not take priority over a reasonable safeguarding or welfare concern.

11

Communications and administration

Customers must provide accurate contact details and inform IPA promptly where those details change.

IPA may communicate through email, telephone, WhatsApp, website forms or another reasonable channel supplied or accepted by the customer.

Teachers may communicate with parents, guardians or adult students for reasonable lesson-related purposes through channels approved by IPA.

All bookings, cancellations, timetable changes, payments, complaints, teacher changes and contractual arrangements must be handled through IPA.

Teachers and minor students should not maintain private lesson-related communications without the parent, guardian or another appropriate responsible adult being included.

12

Direct engagement of IPA teachers

IPA invests in recruiting, assessing, introducing, supporting and administering its teachers and student relationships.

Customers must not directly or indirectly engage, employ, pay or arrange private tuition outside IPA with a teacher, specialist or contractor introduced to them through IPA:

  • during the student’s enrolment with IPA; or
  • for six months following the student’s final IPA lesson with that teacher or specialist,

unless IPA has given prior written consent.

This restriction applies only to a teacher, specialist or contractor introduced through IPA. It does not prevent the customer from independently engaging another teacher who was not introduced through IPA.

IPA may terminate services and pursue any reasonable remedy available under applicable law where this provision is deliberately breached.

13

Examinations, materials and additional services

IPA may prepare students for external examinations but does not operate its own formal examination board.

  • External examination fees are payable separately to the relevant awarding organisation or as otherwise instructed.
  • IPA is not responsible for the policies, dates, results, technical systems or decisions of an external awarding organisation.
  • Books, licensed sheet music, instruments, accessories and other resources may need to be purchased separately by the customer.
  • Accompaniment, rehearsal, examination recording and other additional services may carry separate fees.
14

Refunds and discontinuation

Trial lesson fees are non-refundable once the booking has been confirmed and a teacher has been allocated, except where a refund or other remedy is required by applicable law.

Monthly lesson fees are non-refundable after the relevant lesson period has commenced, except where IPA is unable to provide the purchased service or where a refund is required by applicable law.

A customer’s decision to discontinue lessons does not automatically create an entitlement to a refund for remaining prepaid lessons.

IPA may, at its discretion, consider a credit, transfer or alternative arrangement where exceptional circumstances are supported and an operationally reasonable solution is available.

15

Conduct, safety and suspension

Students, customers, household members and teachers are expected to communicate and behave respectfully and safely.

IPA may pause, refuse or terminate a lesson or service where there is:

  • abusive, threatening, discriminatory, intimidating or inappropriate behaviour;
  • a safeguarding or welfare concern;
  • an unsafe home or online environment;
  • repeated non-payment;
  • repeated serious disruption of the agreed timetable;
  • misuse of teacher contact details or IPA systems;
  • deliberate circumvention of IPA; or
  • another material breach of these terms.

Where appropriate, IPA will explain the concern and provide an opportunity for it to be addressed. Immediate suspension or termination may occur where safety, safeguarding or serious misconduct requires it.

16

Website and intellectual property

The IPA website, branding, original text, graphics, programme descriptions, teaching resources and other original materials belong to IPA or are used with appropriate permission.

Customers and website visitors must not copy, republish, sell, distribute or commercially exploit IPA materials without prior written permission, except where applicable law expressly permits the use.

Teaching materials provided for a student’s personal study may not be shared publicly, uploaded, resold or distributed to others without permission.

17

Personal information

IPA processes personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy and applicable law.

Customers should review the Privacy Policy before submitting personal information, requesting a trial or enrolling a student.

Privacy Policy

Read the IPA Privacy Policy at ipaqatar.com/privacy-policy .

18

Responsibility and liability

IPA will exercise reasonable care and skill in arranging and supplying its services.

IPA is not responsible for a loss or interruption caused by matters outside its reasonable control, including severe weather, public emergencies, government restrictions, telecommunications failure, building access restrictions, transport disruption or an external platform failure.

IPA is not responsible for indirect, speculative or consequential losses that could not reasonably have been anticipated when the service was arranged.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where exclusion or limitation is prohibited by law, including mandatory consumer rights or liability arising from fraud, deliberate misconduct or another matter that cannot lawfully be excluded.

19

Events beyond reasonable control

Where an event beyond IPA’s reasonable control prevents or materially delays a service, IPA may suspend, reschedule, substitute, relocate or adapt the service for the period reasonably required.

IPA will aim to communicate material disruption and provide a fair and practical arrangement according to the circumstances and applicable law.

20

Complaints

A customer should raise a concern as soon as reasonably possible so that IPA has an opportunity to investigate and respond.

Formal complaints should be sent to enquiries@ipaqatar.com .

IPA aims to acknowledge a formal complaint within five business days and provide a substantive response within fifteen business days.

A more complex matter may require additional time. Where reasonably possible, IPA will explain the delay and provide an update.

21

Changes to these terms

IPA may update these terms to reflect changes in its services, operating model, technology or legal obligations.

The latest version will be published on this page with an updated revision date. Material changes affecting active customers will ordinarily be communicated through an appropriate written channel.

A change will not retrospectively remove a right or alter a lesson that has already been paid for, except where required by law or agreed with the customer.

22

General provisions

If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the fullest extent permitted by law.

A delay or failure by IPA to enforce a provision on one occasion does not permanently waive that provision or the right to enforce it later.

The customer may not transfer a booking, credit or contractual right to another person without IPA’s prior agreement, except where IPA expressly permits it.

These terms, together with the confirmed booking details, applicable invoice and any specifically agreed written arrangement, form the agreement between IPA and the customer concerning the relevant service.

23

Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms and any contractual relationship arising from IPA services are governed by the laws of the State of Qatar.

Any dispute that cannot be resolved directly between IPA and the customer will be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of the State of Qatar, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer right to approach a competent authority.
